Pantana Drama Festival

Alice in Thailand!

We had such a fantastic time during the half term at the Pantana drama festival! It was a joy to bring our "Alice in Wonderland" show, workshops, and interactive storytelling to over 200 students from 17 different countries.

After a busy week of preparation, our talented actor/facilitators embarked on a long 16-hour journey, arriving in Bangkok on the 26th. We were so grateful for the lovely transfer to a 5-star hotel with a rooftop pool, though they had a packed schedule ahead with rehearsals, workshops, and various festival events!

We kicked things off on the 28th with a welcome dinner that included an interactive storytelling session of "Through the Looking Glass." The students enthusiastically joined in, becoming characters with fun and quirky props alongside our actors.

The festival officially began on the 29th with a brilliant three-person performance of "Alice." The children and students absolutely loved the show! Following this, our team delivered acting and directing workshops to all the students, complemented by in-house music and dance sessions.

Friday the 30th was dedicated to the students starting to create their very own adaptation of the beloved tale. It was incredible to see 200 students working on 15 scenes with amazing prop creations already underway. We at Divergent were delighted to run these workshops, allowing our facilitators to guide the children in planning and directing their very own show. The school provided the most wonderful props and materials, enabling the students to make their own creations too. We truly value the excitement and involvement of children in drama and art through directing and creating.

On Friday evening, the school hosted a wonderfully wacky and fun-filled Mad Hatter Tea Party. It was amazing! Our actors stayed in character throughout, making balloon swords, performing magic Mad Hatter tricks, and Alice even hosted a riddle quiz.

Saturday was the grand finale – the big show featuring all 200 students and 15 scenes. What a performance it was! The students were absolutely brilliant.

We all had an unforgettable time at Pantana's drama festival, and it was clear that the staff and students did too! Thank you so much, Alexa, and everyone at Pantana. We are already looking forward to coming back again!
